Come learn more about Green Building, sustainability, and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification
All programs will be held in Community Training Room 323 at Finlandia University's Jutila Center for Global Design and Business at 7pm.
The public is encouraged to attend all three presentations. Refreshments will be served. Immediately after each presentation there will be a public forum to gather input and ideas on future development of the Community Arts Center
October 7 – Getting Green Creatively
Linda Frey, Executive Director West Michigan US Green Building Council will speak about the LEED process and how it works to build communities that care about the environment!
October 12 – Building Jobs, the Local Economy, and Intellectual Capital
Cortland Overmyer, Community Sustainability Manager, United Water Contract Services, Suez Environnement North America and Norman Christopher, Sustainability Director of Grand Valley State University will share their expertise in sustainable design for the city of Grand Rapids and how it can happen here!
October 28 – Pittsburgh Glass Center:
A LEED Art Building Case Study
Heather McElwee, Assistant Director and Chris Clarke, Facilities Director of the Pittsburgh Glass Center. Learn about how this art center with a building much like the Copper Country Community Art Center's took a progressive approach and made it cool!
